Our private and exclusive self-catering luxury Tented Camps offer comfort, privacy and tranquility to the discerning nature lover and adventurer.

The beautiful beaches, inland lakes and swamps, warm water, all-year round sub-tropical climate, coral reefs, and adventure trails provide an eco-system close to civilisation for those who wish to be away from the madding crowds. This exclusive, yet rustic retreat is only accessible by 4x4 as the roads from the South African border to the various locations are currently sand roads.

The areas between Ponta do Oura, Inhaca Island and Maputo are a nature lover's paradise due to its totally unspoilt, undeveloped coastline and low population density. The region enjoys a sub-tropical climate, with most of the rainfall falling between December and March. The summer months from November to April are characterized by warm temperatures accompanied by relatively high humidity levels, whereas the winter months are moderate to warm with much lower levels of humidity.

Tartaruga is perfectly designed to blend into the surrounding coastal forest. The tents are set on raised wooden platforms with veranda decks furnished with chairs and tables, offering an excellent hideout for birding or simply enjoying the tranquility of the camp. The camp consists of eight suites, five double tents, two three-bed tents and one three-bed log cabin, with the interiors luxuriously appointed with all the home comforts.

Each tent features an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water, comfortable beds, mosquito netting, a discreet overhead fan, electric kettle and hospitality tray, as well as electric plug points. For guests' peace of mind, all suites are also equipped with in-room safes for the safe-keeping of cash, travel documents and other valuables.

At Tartaruga we offer guests a large communal deck with spectacular sea views, a gas barbecue, a bar area with a bar fridge, a dining area with tables and chairs that are set by the staff for breakfast and dinner, a fully equipped kitchen, and a boma area with a fire pit for guests to enjoy the ambience of the bush at night. In addition, a small circular pool flows into a three-metre deep diving pool for guests to enjoy.
