Pumba Private Game Reserve is situated in the Malari Free Eastern Cape and is a mere hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth and 15 minutes from Grahamstown, while the Gary Player design Golf Course at Alicedale is only 30 km away. Pumba Private Game Reserve offers a luxurious Safari Lodge comprising of eight stone-walled, thatched waterfront cottages leading off meandering timber footpaths.

Each cottage offers a private setting with a unique view of the lake. The cottages open up onto private timber decks with outside showers and plunge pools. Let your ranger take you on a game drive in a custom-made vehicle at sunrise or sunset on summer evenings to share in the shear beauty of Africa, and although you cannot take this piece of heaven with you, you will always treasure the memories.

Uniquely positioned the Safari Lodge is set amongst dense bushveld, overlooking Lake Kariega, where the animals come to drink. The main lodge offers magnificent views of the plains and Lake Kariega from its terraced timber deck complete with bushveld pool for lazy summer days. The bush bar and floating pier is the perfect setting to enjoy a sundowner before dinner a cordon bleu delight complemented by an extensive collection of excellent wines.

Covering about 6000 hectares of land, Pumba Private Game Reserve is home to Africa’s Big 5 and offers visitors the chance to experience the wonders of Africa, from the graceful giraffe to seldom seen leopard, 22 species of antelope and other small game. The 200 plush species of bird will delight bird lovers.

Safari: Pumba carefully selects their rangers to ensure you can get the most out of all your game drives. We have many different species of animals roaming our plains, ranging from our big predators such as Lions, Cheetahs, Buffalo, Leopards and Rhinos.

Beach: Pumba Private Game Reserve is a short drive from the Humewood and Summerstrand beaches.

Spa: We take our inspirations from fynbos, the desert and the ocean. Our expert therapists are qualified to pamper you with a host of therapies, including massages, full body wraps, hot stone therapy, manicures, pedicures, facials and hydrotherapy.

Golf: Enjoy a round of golf at the Humewood Links Golf Course nearby.

Wedding Venues: Extraordinary cuisine, phenomenal service and breathtaking views will leave you and your guests with magical memories. And when your feet are tired from dancing the night away, you won`t have far to go!

Conference Venues: We combine an intimate venue with excellent facilities and gorgeous surroundings, sure to make any event successful. We can accommodate up to 20 delegates, and have IT support if necessary, as well as a private business office.

Family friendly: We've recently launched Kids on Safari, which gives kids a one-hour game drive after breakfast, with a species book, and teaches them how to identify plants and insects around Msenge, and build a fire in the boma (followed by roasting marshmallows)!
