Namaqua Silver Sands is a mobile camp for hikers, situated along the west coast of Namaqualand. The hike is so unique that no other hike can compete with this desert trail's transformation during the flower season. The hike runs over a period of six days and the mobile camp is moved accordingly.The picture perfect trail takes place in the Namaqua National Park, offering more than 150 different bird species, among which we find the ludwig's bustard, steppe buzzard and the African black oystercatcher, which is in danger of extinction. Important Information
Please note that this is a six-day hiking trail with a mobile camp and the tents will be moved accordingly. Guests must provide their own sleeping bag and pillow and a day pack with water bottle, sunscreen, hat, windbreaker and binoculars. We supply you with drinking water and water for the showers. Please do keep in mind that water is very limited. Guests are more than welcome to supply some additional snacks for personal use on the hike. We supply you with limited beers, house wines (dry red and dry white), juice, coffee, tea and water. If you prefer something additional to that, bring it along. It's a moderate hiking trail but we recommend hiking boots, or footwear appropriate for walking in sand and rocky areas. Also bring some extra spending cash for souvenirs, tips and additional treats. There will be no cell phone reception. No smoking will be allowed in camp area. Transportation along the coastal area is rough. No damaging of any equipment will be tolerated. We do not take responsibility for hikers not complying with the rules and regulations. A self-catering option is available on request, where guests can provide their own transfers, tents and meals.
