Monteiro Camping and Self-catering offers visitors the best of both worlds. It is situated approximately 11 km south of Windhoek on the B1 tar road and less than 15 minutes’ drive from the traffic circle to Rehoboth. Monteiro lies in a beautiful setting surrounded by nature with wonderful views to the nearby Auas Mountains. Monteiro lies in a beautiful setting surrounded by nature with wonderful views to the nearby Auas Mountains. Opened in 2005, Monteiro offers guests a choice of accommodation; chalets, campsites and safari tents.

The guest chalets are equipped with twin beds and two bunk beds with a double bed in one of the chalets. These chalets have full, spacious en-suite amenities with a bath and shower in one room and a shower only in the other room. There are also a fridge, microwave, two-plate stove, TV and all the equipment needed to enjoy a self-catering stay. Private braai facilities are also provided.

All the campsites enjoy lovely, well-maintained, grassy locations and each site has electric lights, running water, power points and braai facilities, for which wood can be purchased. There are also a communal kitchen and hygienic ablution facilities.

The safari tents are equipped with the basic crockery, cutlery and electric kettle, but no cooking utilities. We supply the bedding and every tent has its own braai facility.

There is also a lovely swimming pool for everybody to enjoy, and a laundry service can be provided on request. Our small kiosk sells ice cold cool drinks, chips, sweets, ice-cream, meat and all other delicious bites.

At Monteiro you can feel the closeness of nature, and if fortunate enough, you might spot a kudu, oryx or Hartmanns mountain zebra. Bird-watching here is spectacular and you can also visit the only railway tunnel in Namibia, as well as all the attractions of Windhoek which are just moments away.
