Hidden in the African bush outside Bela Bela, Mellowood House is the epitome of tranquillity. Listen to the call of the wild in this bed and breakfast. Peace and quiet is guaranteed. We are 5.5 km on a dirt road, well away from the tar road. The loudest noise is birdsong. This is not a party venue and there are strict noise restrictions, no shouting, loud music or TV. No access at the main gate will be allowed after 8.30pm. Guests arriving after this time should make arrangements with us prior to arriving. Failing this, access will not be granted and deposits will be forfeited.

Guests can choose between the Ground Floor Apartment or Mountain View rooms. The Ground Floor Apartment comprises a bedroom with a king-size bed and a futon in the lounge for two children. The unit is further equipped with a bathroom, lounge, dining area and a kitchenette.

The kitchenette is fitted with a microwave, fridge and tea and coffee facilities. There are ceiling fans and heaters in the apartment as well as DStv and Wi-Fi. Guests also have access to a braai area. The Ground Floor Apartment has a separate entrance and is only suitable for two adults and two children, not for 4 adults.

Mountain View 1 and 2 are composed of a bedroom with a queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom as well as a fan and a heater. Guests have access to a flat-screen TV with DStv and Wi-Fi as well as a bar fridge, tea and coffee facilities and a shared braai area.

Mellowood House guests can enjoy their English Breakfast in the main dining area while overlooking the game animals include giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, waterbuck, nyala, impala, blesbok and sable. Why not cool down at the swimming pool after a hike among the indigenous wildlife. There is a minimum booking of 2 nights at weekends.

We have 2 small dogs who are very friendly and don't bite.
