About Mashovhela Bush Lodge

Our family friendly Mashovhela Bush Lodge lies sheltered in the magnificent Soutpansberg Mountains on the Morning Sun Nature Reserve a Natural Heritage Site only 20 km from Louis Trichardt/Makhado in the northern part of South Africa’s province of Limpopo.

Mashovhela Bush Lodge is 3 star graded, with ethnically decorated 10 en-suite chalets and two self-catering annex Safari tents which evoke a special Venda village atmosphere. It is truly a value for money breakaway filled with tours to the mystical forests, sacred lakes, water spirits, stunning scenery and famous Venda culture of arts and crafts a perfect combination of authentic culture close to nature with other Big 5 destinations in our reach.
Adventurous clients can also sleep in our stargazing Hammock Camp, we supply sleeping bags, pillows and mosquito nets.

Drumbeat Restaurant Venue offers the option of indoor or outside functions, which can cater for any special function from a spectacular and unforgettable bush wedding to a 60 delegate conference at Mashovhela Bush Lodge.

Due to its convenient central location, easily accessible just off the N1, it is an ideal relaxing stop over en-route to and from Botswana, Zimbabwe, Northern Kruger National Park and the Mapungubwe World Heritage Site.

Morning Sun Nature Reserve which is a malaria-free area and a bio-diversity hotspot for plants, birds, butterflies and rare wildlife makes it a truly magical place to relax and get reacquainted with nature. Activities on the reserve include scenic drives and a variety of guided or unguided walking trails, one of which takes you to our big waterfall and our sacred Mashovhela Rock Pool.

Safari: Morning Sun Nature Reserve offers scenic drives up the Soutpansberg Mountains and clients can enjoy a sundowner drink while appreciating the sounds of nature and the breathtaking view, antelope like Kudu and the red buck might be spotted.

Wedding Venues: We cater for small intimate weddings of up to 60 guests. Outside open air thatched chapel available and the drumbeat restaurant for reception. Option of hiring a marquee tent to be erected on the lawn. Couples can also get married at our Baobab tree.

Family friendly: We offer children's walks and a baby sitter service that needs to be arranged on arrival. The lodge has a swimming pool on site, children must be accompanied by an adult. There is a big lawn and play area for children.

Romantic: The restaurant's subtle lighting, candles on the tables and fire place creates a romantic atmosphere. A unique experience for couples to sleep on top of the Soutpansberg Mountains at the back of our Unimog truck.
