There is a cosy lounge area with a fireplace and DStv, a fully equipped kitchen and a large antique dining table, all of which have beautiful views. The cottage is extremely private and also features a lapa, a garden with barbecue facilities, and a small library. The cottage is serviced upon departure, but additional servicing can be arranged if required. Firewood can also be provided at an additional fee.

MacFarlanes offers opportunities for peaceful birding, bass fishing, canoeing and hiking. Horseriding can be also arranged, and other activities in the surrounding area include mountain biking, windsurfing, walking, and swimming in the lake.
