About Kaya Mawa

Kaya Mawa is hidden away on the Likoma Island. Nestled amongst the rocky outcrops, the sandy beaches, and clearest waters are surrounded by ancient baobab trees and mango groves.The accommodation consists of 12 private, thatched-roof houses, built by hand and exquisitely decorated with sunken bathtubs, private terraces and pools, and direct access to the lake.Enjoy the many great activities such as scuba diving, kite surfing, canoeing, spa treatments, restaurants or cycle around the village.

Safari: Kaya Mawa has stunning bird life and over 1000 species of fish, many endemic to the Lake. Kaya Mawa is the perfect retreat to rejuvenate before or after the 5am wake-ups of safari throughout Africa.

Beach: With it's supernatural vibe, there’s nowhere quite like Kaya Mawa. Hidden away on Lake Malawi’s Likoma Island, the clearest blue waters and sandy beaches coupled with the surrounding Baobab and Mango trees are a dramatic backdrop to any holiday.

Spa: As the sun goes down on another perfect day on Likoma Island, book a massage at our spa on the rocks in the lake and have the last of your cares soothed away.

Wedding Venues: From the choir to the pastor, petals strewn on the beach / chapel, and a boat covered in bougainvillea as the bride arrives, Kaya Mawa can arrange it all. We accommodate 29 guests, plus a four-bed villa. Additional accommodation can also be arranged.

Romantic: Serene decks for sunbathing or a romantic dinner for two; secluded lakeside chalets with private lounges by the water. Shower under the stars, take a midnight dip in your private pool or simply walk hand in hand after a moonlit supper on the beach.
