Important Information

An indemnity form will be sent to the client on receipt of booking – these terms will be taken as read and accepted in addition to the welcome letter.

Refundable Breakage Deposit
A refundable breakage deposit will be advised when making your enquiry
The refundable breakage deposit will be refunded the following Friday following departure (depending on any damages/breakages)

Housekeeping
A housekeeping service is available for a general tidy up (dishes and beds)
The cost for this is R85.00 per chalet per day and needs to be booked and paid for prior to arrival.
The lapa, firepit and general areas are to be kept neat and clean – shall the areas be left in an unsuitable condition, a cleaning fee will be applied and be deducted from the refundable breakage deposit.
A departure housekeeping fee of R250.00 applies to all group bookings

Please do not break tree’s or collect of firewood from the bush.

Smoking
No Smoking in the house or the chalet, please put your cigarette stompies in the ashtrays

Damages
Guests will be liable for any damages and breakages caused by you or your guests

Other
- DSTV is available in all chalets (select channels)
- Please bring your own Blue Tooth speakers or CD Players but please consider other guests.
- Please close the lapa blinds in the event of a big storm
- Once you turn off the main road it becomes a dirt gravel road all the way to the main gate of the Lodge. During heavy rains the roads can become very muddy and slippery. We have had very few guests actually get stuck before but we have pulled them out with the tractor. Having said that most of the time this is not an issue it is only in excessively heavy rains and this will happen in any country area where there are dirt gravel roads.

Noise/Music
Please consider other guests with noise levels, especially later in the evening

Fires/Braai
Please light fires in designated area’s only. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE FIRES IN THE WEBBER BRAAIS AS YOU WILL BE LIABLE TO PAY FOR A REPLACEMENT WEBBER.
Please make sure all fires are out at night, especially in winter as the wind will easily blow coals onto the dry grass and this will result in huge fires and loss to property and loss of wild life!

Wildlife
Please respect our wild life
Please be aware of snakes, mainly if walking in the bush

Electricity/Lighting
There is a possibility of a power outage during a big storm or with load shedding from Eskom - but this does not usually last very long, there are candles and also cooking is on gas so any power outage will not affect cooking. We cannot be held responsible for any power outages and do not offer refunds as a result of power failures.

Outside light Switches
- Outside Pool area main light switch behind the couch in the Lapa
- Lapa light switches one as you go in the door and the other in the left hand corner as you go into the lapa
- Outside lights for main house in main bedroom next to bed in left hand corner
- Outside lights for Main House veranda are on wall on your left if facing the front door, just plug in and switch on at the wall.

Suggested items to bring
- Board Games
- DSTV Decoder for main house PVR or Explorer, HDMI Cable and remote - Books/Magazines
- Ice
- First Aid Kit

If you feel our general manager has provided you with great service (carrying luggage/lighting fires etc) – please feel free to tip him!

Security
Jackal Hill has a fully fenced electric fence, as well as 2 gates and armed response. There is a panic button in each chalet.
Please ensure all chalets are locked when not in use. (IE: when at lapa/swimming pool and going to sleep at night)
Please keep your valuables in a safe location (cellphones, cameras, wallets, handbags)

Group Bookings
Shall the number of guests reduce after the initial quotation and invoice has been sent through, the request for accommodation will only be confirmed on confirmation from the owners of Jackal Hill.

We had to leave early and tried phoning the two numbers provided several times. We couldn't get hold of anyone to open the gates for us. So we landed up unscrewing the lock on the gate.

We loved everything about our stay except that the road leading to our destination was not very comfortable and directions to the spot could be improved. Our comfort was disturbed by the fact that the rooms were infested with flies. The door/windows doesn't have a sieve to prevent flies from entering the room when the main door is open. Facilities and Manager was outstanding. It was a pleasant and... Read more
