Take exit Gent Centrum and follow the centrum signs. At the traffic lights follow the main direction straight ahead the Zuidparklaan with the parc at the left side of the avenue. At the end where the left lane leads right into a public parking garage take the middle lane go on till past the busstop under the old plane trees. At the now very nearby junction with the Zuidstationstraat make a left followed by an immediate right into the Vlaanderenstraat . (See roadmap) At the following six branch crossing go straight ahead to the next crossing where a dignified Lieven Bauwens statue greets you: make a left and drive along the japanese cherry trees till the end: take the Brabantdam making a right. From now on keep on going straight ahead: Vogelmarkt Kouter (very large square with lindentrees on all sides) Zonnestraat and cross the bridge going even till the Do Not Enter sign where all traffic has to take Onderbergen at the right. Again keep going straight ahead till the foot of the St Michiels church where you will enter the St Michielsplein from the side while making a left. On the square of the church you take the second left: not Ingelandgat but beyond St Michielsstraat . Doing so you drive sideways into a larger street Hoogstraat where the first left will be Oude Houtlei . Hotel Verhaegen is at the second elevated crossing at nr 110.
