According to Colombian law, foreign visitors with a Tourist Visa, Andean Card or Mercosur Card and residents living abroad, that in both cases stay less than 90 days in Colombia, or present at the hotel their Passport or documents that accredit the Entrance and Permanence Permit PT, PID, POA according to the new regulation, are exempt from paying the tax. Those who do not comply with these requirements, must pay the tax (19%) directly at the hotel; therefore, it is essential to present the Passport and the Migration certificate at the time of check in. For Colombian residents, the VAT tax (19%) is included in the rate. If the Colombian nationality is not specified in the reservation, the VAT will be charged directly at the hotel without exceptions.
The rates do not include hotel insurance, which must be paid per person, per night directly at the hotel.
Parents travelling to Colombia with children under 18 must show the childs birth certificate or passport (In the case of Colombian citizens, the only valid documentation is the citizenship card and for foreign citizens the valid documents are: passports, alien registration card or Mercosur card where applicable) with a photo at check-in time. If an infant is traveling with parents or a guardian then they must have a travel document certified and signed by both parents, along with a copy of both parents official ID. If the child is traveling with one parent then signed authorization from the other parent must be provided. It is recommended that you contact the Colombian consulate for more information on Law 1098 from 2006 relating to children and adolescents.
