About Hawksmoor House

Hawksmoor House offers guest house accommodation in a Cape Dutch country retreat located on a 220-hectare working wine farm called Matjieskuil which is near Stellenbosch. Meticulously restored and beautifully decorated with a mix of contemporary furnishes and exquisite antiques, it occupies a stunning location amidst vineyards overlooking Table Mountain and enjoys spectacular sunsets. Conveniently located a 25-minute drive from the buzzing Cape Town city centre, the estate is quiet and serene. In addition to our guests, the farm is home to horses, cows, porcupines, hawks, herons, pelicans, and countless other wildlife, while our resident German Pointers, keep a watchful eye on the daily workings of the farm.Hawksmoor House is the perfect place to unwind and let the day slowly go by, lie by the pool with a good book and enjoy a glass of our own fabulous Hawksmoor wine range. Guests can enjoy breakfast every morning and a daily afternoon tea in the lounge. On request, Hawksmoor can arrange dinner and wine tastings. It also serves as a great base to explore the Winelands. Our friendly and cheerful staff stay discreetly in the background, providing you with the feeling that you have the entire place to yourself and allowing you to relax in absolute peace and quiet. Children are welcome at Hawksmoor House, subject to availability of child-friendly rooms. Standard child rates apply (unless specified otherwise in e.g. special offers.). Children staying in a room by themselves will be charged the full adult price.

Wedding Venues: We can host up to 120 guests. There are several beautiful locations on the property to hold your ceremony and/or reception. We love to customize our weddings to suit the needs of the bride and groom.

Conference Venues: Hawksmoor is a peaceful haven where business planning is met with the tranquility of a country retreat. Our packages vary according to number of delegates and the length of the conference.

Family friendly: We regret no children under 12 years.

Romantic: Hawksmoor House is the ideal romantic destination. Walk through the lush lavender fields with the sun setting behind you and share in intimate memories at our guest house.

                  A lovely and amazing outing to the winelands.The room was generous and warm (thanks to underfloor heating and a gas fireplace). Breakfast was good, the cheese platters in front of the fire scrumptious and decadent.The staff was friendly and accommodating - in fact it felt like we were at home, just a grander, older one.

                  Beautiful guest house with gorgeous breakfast and stunning antiques and grounds. Felt like staying in your dream house and not hotel like at all. Had a super massage in-room. No restaurant but you get afternoon tea and can order a cheese platter if you're staying in (we have a baby so we tended to). Cakes are excellent! White room was OK but a little worn, perhaps they gave us this one as we had a child. Carpet was v dirty and needed a decent clean. Ask for the 4 poster room off the main room in the house. Amazing view of table mountain. Lovely hummingbirds and gorgeous dogs!

                  A very convenient location, for Cape Town and Airport on the edge of the Winelands - 15km from Stellenbosch. Very comfortable, classy furnishings and quiet. Breakfast served on a terrace overlooking the garden and Table Mountain in the distance. Very reasonable price for the quality.
