In the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal's Midlands Meander, a “Far Away Place” is a gay-owned two bedroom cottage with views to a beautiful dam, Trout fishing, a huge Pine forest and the mountains of the Karkloof. In the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal's Midlands Meander, a “Far Away Place” is a gay-owned two bedroom cottage with views to a beautiful dam, Trout fishing, a huge Pine forest and the mountains of the Karkloof. We are social people, who love our dogs; if dogs are not for you, then our cottage is not recommended.

The cottage is approximately 80 meters away from our main home, but we think is fairly private owing to some trees and garden shrubs between the main house and cottage.

The cottage has beautiful views and we have two dams on the property if you fancy some fishing or a swim. We are also both avid mountain bikers and will be happy to share some of our routes in the neighboring forest with you.

There is a main bedroom with a queen-size bed, a loft bedroom with a double bed and a single bed and bathroom with shower, toilet and basin. All beds have 100% cotton percale linen.

The lounge, kitchen and patio are all open plan. There is also a 40” Smart TV in the lounge for those cold misty days and a Bluetooth sound bar – feel free to bring your own media to watch or listen to on a flash stick. The kitchen has a Defy Gas Stove Top, Defy Microwave (Convection etc. so you can show off those cooking skills), fridge/freezer, kettle and toaster. There is no DStv or Satellite dish - but feel free to hook any of your devices to the SMART Samsung TV and play anything you like, including music.

We will provide coffee, tea, milk sachets, brown sugar, white sugar, sweetener, salt, pepper & firewood for those chilly evenings in the Midlands. If you need anything urgent ahead of your stay with us, please let us know and we will do our very best to assist.

If you are looking for solitude, fresh country air in an idyllic country spot on the Midlands Meander - you will love “FAR AWAY PLACE”. Enjoy lazy days in our hammock chairs on the patio too. Our Dachshunds will definitely want to get to know you better & Wimpy, Smooch Or Lady may even spend the night with you if you encourage it!

Being a gay, married couple we are obviously gay-friendly - but being gay is by NO MEANS a prerequisite to enjoying our beautiful cottage in Curry's Post on the Midlands Meander - so I guess that makes us hetero-friendly too LOL!

You can expect to travel about 5km on dirt if coming from the Howick/Balgowan side or 8km on dirt if coming from the Lingalapa/Nottingham Road side. Our own road off the main Curry’s Post Road has recently been re-done and is considered to be a good road.
