Casa Chibububo Lodge is a hidden treasure situated on the magnificent coastline of Vilanculos.
We offer affordable, family friendly accommodation in elevated wooden houses just a few steps from the water’s edge.
Situated in a quieter part of Vilanculos about 3km from town center and 1km from the airport.
We are not within walking distance to other restaurants and shops, but our friendly staff will gladly arrange a tuk- tuk or taxi to take you to town.
We have an array of accommodation options to suit your requirements, from the single traveler to large groups. Choose between one of our 3 bedroom, sea view houses or our 11 bedroom, garden view house.
All houses are fully equipped for self-catering with an ample deck area to enjoy the spectacular view and catch the evening breeze.
Some of the bedrooms in the houses are en-suite and the rest of the bedrooms share bathrooms.
Each house is equipped with linen, bath towels and mosquito nets.
Our houses are kept cool with ceiling fans in all rooms, as well as through the unique design of the local thatched roofs which leaves a space for air circulation.
The inside walls are made of natural materials like reeds and wood and walls do not go up to the roof.
We have open thatched roofs in all units, not traditional ceilings – as you will see in the pictures.
Because of the open design of the thatched roofs, birds often come and sit on the higher beams inside the roof and you may sometimes be greeted in the morning with the friendly chirp and chatter of these feathered friends.
We offer our guests a restaurant, bar, sparkling swimming pool and barbecue area under the palm trees.
In the event of a power outage, we also have an automatic backup generator to keep the lights on.
The area is popular for spectacular reefs and the Bazaruto Archipelago islands.
Ideal for scuba diving or snorkeling.
Deep sea fishing is another main attraction for Vilanculos.
Take a day excursion to the islands - a truly magical adventure on our traditional Mozambique dhow (sail boat). You can also ask our friendly staff to help arrange some of the other activities in and around Vilanculos, like: kayaking, beach horse rides and canoe safaris.
Please note that we do not have a “traditional” beach in front of the lodge – as you will see on the pictures.
It is more like a giant lagoon, as the water pulls back for about 300m at low tide and comes up to 20m from the houses at high tide.
You can swim in front of the lodge or you can easily walk along the beach (especially during low tide) to other lodges and restaurants on the beach front.
About 500meters up the coastline you will find more “traditional” sandy beaches with palm trees – although no big waves as the water is more like a lagoon.
