The air is crisp and clean, and the climate is temperate with warmth all year round. Waterval Onder is malaria free. Bring sunscreen if you are planning on tanning.

The area is known for bird watching, hiking trails, mountain biking, rock climbing, trout fishing and its various historical sites. Towns like Sabie, Graskop, Pilgrims Rest, Hazyview and Nelspruit make an ideal day's outing and the local town of Waterval Boven offers a selection of quaint restaurants and pubs.
