Our 7 Day, 6 Night Extreme Sports Package is not for the faint-hearted. This extreme sport package lets you do the best and most exciting sports in the Cape. These activities are weather-dependent, so the itinerary below serves as an example. All overnight stays at SaltyCrax in Blouberg.
Day 1
You will be welcomed at the airport and taken to Saltycrax Backpackers in Blouberg. Once you arrive at the hostel you will be checked into your dorm room and welcomed to Table View by our friendly staff. You will have the day to relax or walk around the area to the white sand beaches with amazing views of Table Mountain or to the many shops, bars and restaurants just in short walking distance.
If you would like to book an activity for the day just speak to our friendly staff at the activity desk. In the evening, we meet at the hostel for a traditional South African BBQ called a braai. After a good meal, we roll down to the local bars and pubs where you can spend the rest of the night at leisure.
Day 2
After helping yourself to breakfast, a qualified kite surfing instructor will meet you. He will take you to the world famous Kite Beach that has an amazing backdrop of Table Mountain and a steady supply of wind and waves.
Your first day of lessons will begin with:
- Lesson 1: Introduction to Kite boarding. Includes safety, equipment setup, understanding the wind and land based flying; and
- Lesson 2: Water introduction. Includes large kite handling, self-launch and body dragging through the water.
Day 3
After breakfast, you complete your kite surfing course. Your final day of lessons include:
- Lesson 3: Water Skills. Includes advanced body dragging, water re-launch and basic board skills;
- Lesson 4: Board Basics. Includes first water starts on a board and first ride; and
- Lesson 5: Supervised Riding and Tips. Includes riding with power, change of direction and holding an edge.
You will now be an IKO accredited kitesurfer and will receive a certificate and card allowing you to kite anywhere in the world!
Day 4
Boulder hopping, wading, swimming, climbing, and jumping off cliffs from 3-15 metres high is what you will be doing. Kloofing, otherwise known as canyoning, is a uniquely Western Cape experience. It involves getting yourself down a river gorge, one that is fast flowing but with not enough water for kayaking. This is a full day of great fun and extreme adventure. Breakfast and lunch included.
Day 5
We take a 20 minute drive up the West coast to the skydiving drop zone. Your tandem skydiving instructor will give you a briefing before boarding the plane. The view on the flight is breathtaking. Cape Town lies to the south, False Bay is further south, Robben Island is to the west and the Langebaan Lagoon is to the north.
We end the tour at Saltycrax where you can relax in the hammocks or the Jacuzzi and share your adventure with fellow travellers. Breakfast included.
Day 6:
After breakfast and an early start, we go to Atlantis, passing the Melkbos beach along the way. Your sand boarding instructor will show you how to ride down the dunes. We then hit the beach for lunch and to wash the sand off with surf lessons. Breakfast included.
Day 7:
This day you can use to explore the beaches and restaurants of Blouberg, which are a five-minute walk from your accommodation, or have a relaxing day at the backpackers sorting out all your awesome pictures you took during your visit to the Mother City. Breakfast included.
