The two gates lead directly onto the beach; one onto Sharks Bay and the other a few meters walk to Granny's Bay and Umzumbe Beach one of the few Blue Flag beaches in South Africa. Umzumbe’s beaches are popular because the warm water of the Indian Ocean flows quietly along its shoreline, therefore water sports such as diving, snorkelling and scuba diving are popular.
